Our school was one of 47 participating schools across Brisbane. Active School Travel promotes clean and green, active and healthy school travel modes such as walking, riding your bike or scooter, car pooling and public transport. While we are no longer a part of the BCE programme, we run a modified day on Thursdays, encouraging our students to be thoughtful about the environment and sustainability.
Grub Club - our school garden needs carers who will plant, weed, harvest and cook with the produce.
Fun Run - get healthy and fit before school from 8:10am on Thursdays. Wear house shirt and earn points for your house. Adults welcome.
Nude Food - bring your food wrapper free in your lunchbox. Eat healthy, real food, not processed junk.
Reduce, reuse, recycle - help us reduce paper waste, conserve energy and compost our food scraps.
Meditate - try for calmness by meditating often, but at least on Thursdays.
Travel Actively - walk, skate, skoot, bike - do it your way on Thursdays.
By leaving your car at home, at least one day a week on our active travel day, Thursday, we can improve road safety and our health and fitness, create a cleaner environment and reduce traffic congestion at the school gate. How can you lose? If you have to drive to school, you could try parking away from the school (Park & Stride) and enjoy a 10 minute walk with your children.
Our Active School Travel committee still meet each month and plan fun activities, incentives and important skill sessions for our students. For more information on this committee, please contact the school office.
